A Day at the Races: 5 Minutes walk from hotel (currently closed for refurbishment, reopens August 2007)

Doncaster races are steeped in history and to quote their own web site the racecourse is where tradition and excellence meet. Doncaster races traditionally launch the British Flat-racing season on turf and hosts a number of high quality meetings throughout the season. The racecourse has just recieved a £32m refurbishment ready to hold the famous St Leger.

Shopping in Doncaster: Accessible by foot, car and local transport system

Doncaster has many places to shop, a 5 minute drive or 20 minutes walk from the Woodborough is the Lakeside Shopping complex which has many shops to chose from. Also a 15-20 minutes walk is Doncaster Town Centre and the Frenchgate Centre with over 100 shops inside which has recently been refurbished. Doncaster is also well known for is fantastic meat and general markets in the Town Centre.The Markets offer a wide range of goods with over 570 stalls competing to ensure that prices are the keenest and the widest choice is available and all with that personal touch not usually available in other “Super Markets”. Also just 5 minutes walk from the Woodborough is an Asda supermarket and just a few yards from the Hotel is a small family run corner shop for general supplies that you might need during your stay.
Just 25 minutes drive is the Meadowhall Shopping centre in sheffield, just off J34 on the M1, with just over 270 shops in a warm, undercover environment.

Doncaster Dome Leisure Complex:5-10 minutes walk from Hotel

The Dome provides an excellent range of sports, leisure and fitness facilities to cater for all types of people, from the beginner and recreational user, to the dedicated sports person or enthusiast.The Dome also hosts a comprehensive program of major live entertainment and is a popular venue for conferences, meetings, celebrations and exhibitions.

Leisure Activities: Doncaster and local areas

There is lots to see and do around Doncaster. 5 minute walk from the Woodborough is a family park with a big expanse of open grass area to play football with the kids or just relax. There also other parks and greens dotted around doncaster. Just 10 minutes walk there is a lake surrounded with pathways so if your into walking that's probably the place to go, also in the same area is the Doncaster leisure park where a VUE cinema ,Doncaster Bowl and a couple of restaurants are situated. A few minutes walk from the leisure park is the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum where most of the exhibitions are undercover so there is no need to wait for those rare sunny days.
In the neighboring suburb of Conisbrough is the Conisbrough Castle which is a great place to visit if you have any free time during your stay in doncaster.
